For Fat Tuesday we made Emeril's Cajun Jambalaya. We've been making it for years and it's a huge hit in this house. So good and to make it a little easier on ourselves I chopped up the onions, celery and other veggies/meat the night before so when I got home on Tuesday night all the tedious work was done and it would be done pretty quickly. I do add more rice and chicken broth than it calls for because we like our extra ricey. I also add more meat because we like meat a lot!For Fat Tuesday Lilli decided to get a fat lip at school. Apparently she was being a monkey and hanging from a high chair when the whole thing collapsed on her. Lots of blood, both Tuesday and when she picked at it Wednesday. It's looking a lot better now, but the poor thing was in a lot of pain Tuesday and even on Wed it was really hard to understand her!
She still absolutely loves books. I don't even have a clue how many we read each night. Right now her favorites are ones about numbers and alphabets since we're working on those a lot.
And of course she and Pippin are tight as always. He follows her around everywhere with whatever toy he wants to play with and doesn't seem to mind her stealing them all the time.
I woke up around 12:30 last night and heard him walking around the house. He walked into her room, scratched, snorted and licked for a couple of minutes and then circled right back out. On Friday nights we have to put up the Pippin-gate so he won't wake her up on Saturday mornings, our one glorious day each week to sleep in.
She loves to balance in the door of her jump. Have I mentioned this is the best $50 I've ever spent in this long, rainy, cold, snowy, dark winter?
She was stealing his toys and then throwing them back over to him.
We really don't let her play tug with him much. Sometimes as he's playing he'll nip you with his teeth (on accident) but he's just so much more gentle with her.
And no, it's not that warm here. Once again she shed the leggings she was wearing with this dress as soon as we got home. Thank goodness it is warming up since she can't be bothered to wear pants most of the time!!!
She is so proud of this dress - it has a little deer on the bottom corner of it and it's the first thing she shows anyone who happens to pass by - stranger, friend, even a homeless person downtown on the sidewalk this particular day.
