July 5th!

The way July 4th fell this year we got an extra day off on Monday the 5th, woo hoo!!!! We slept in until around 8 or so, and then Lilli and I watched her favorite cartoon (Dinosaur Train) while Brent cooked one of his great breakfasts. We just stopped giving her baths in the duck, but she still loves to play in it! It makes a great little seat for watching TV, as well as working puzzles and reading books. We had a babysitter last night and she said Lilli got in her duck several times.

After breakfast Lilli, Pippin and I went outside to play while Brent worked around the house.
Pippin loved sitting outside under the pretty blooming crepe myrtle. It's always so pretty in July!
Lilli rode her horse, and we played with her hand-me-down Dora van. One of her current fave games is seeing how many of her animals and little figures she can fit in the van, and there are some **very** exact places each animal MUST sit.
Before lunch we did some puzzles in the duck....
We had meant to make ribs Memorial Day weekend, but then Lilli got sick and the meat went back in the freezer. It's a super, super easy recipe where you marinade overnight and then slow cook in the oven all morning. Lilli's also in a phase where she doesn't like anything to be messy on her hands, so she wasn't a fan and really just wanted her nap. But they were DELICIOUS! We ate "high on the hog" last week - eating a ton of the corn we had brought back from Mom and Dad's, as well as her bread. We had fajitas one night and ate the peppers we brought back and also used peppers in several other recipes.
After nap time we headed out to the pool - we just had to have Lilli in her patriotic swimsuit for the holiday weekend! I paid $1.25 for it at one of the consignment shops we had been to earlier in the weekend.
I just love the Y pool at Maryland Farms! Nice and spacious with tons of things for the older kids to do so they don't run over the toddlers in the shallower parts. There's multiple slides, fountains and spray things and Lilli NEVER wants to leave!
Afterwards we went to Taco Bell and a little grocery shopping and then back to the normal work week. It was a great, nice long weekend!! I can't believe summer is going by so quickly!
