It has been such a crazy week around here!
Lilli's school was closed on Monday, and even though they had no damage I'm pretty certain from the way the roads to it looked this afternoon there would have been no way to get over there yesterday, and I really wouldn't have wanted her that close to the River. I guess I KNEW how close daycare was to the river, but I didn't really think about how it's pretty much just a couple of blocks away from there.
Brent stayed home with her yesterday and they went out to downtown and took some pics of all the damage, I walked around with coworkers at lunch yesterday and took pictures as well. Work was open (isn't it always???) even though our lower level flooded, including the elevator that was steamed, fanned and vacuumed out all day yesterday. After work we went over to Shelby Park, which is now pretty much just a River. All the many, many miles we've run and biked there, events we've been to, and little league games aren't even fathomable right now. The playground is gone, as well as the softball fields, greenway trails and golf course. Pretty much every road I take to get Lilli and then return home was blocked off, and the whole drive over there this afternoon every side street to the side was closed off with flooding, just unimaginable!
Since we took so many pictures worth sharing, here's a slide show to make it a lot easier to post!
(Actually I'm very irritated - Picassa wasn't working and Flickr cut my stream off at 23 pics instead of the 63 I'd like to share, so here's 20-something for now and I'll just have to find a better slideshow option!)
Wow. That's just insane. I'm still having a difficult time wrapping my head around the photos I saw of the Opry Hotel. I'm glad you guys are all safe.
